Stefano Marò was born in Pinerolo, a small town closeto Turin, in Italy on August 20, 1986. He graduated in Mathematics from theUniversity of Turin in 2010. He joined the Ph.D in Mathematics at the same University at the beginning of 2011 under the supervision of Prof. Rafael Ortega from the University of Granada. In order to work with his supervisor he moved to Spain where he have been living and working for three years. He is interested in the study of the dynamics of Hamiltonian systems coming from mechanical models, also linked to prediction aspects in Celestial Mechanics.

Project description:

The project consists of the study of the dynamics of asteroids. More precisely he is concerned with the orbit determination problem and impact monitoring. The orbit determination problem consists of determining the orbit of an asteroid from the observations. Once an orbit is determined the possibilty of an impact on the Earth is studied, also considering the perturbations due to close approaches.

Supervisor: Dr. Giovanni F. Gronchi
