Stardust wins at the UK Space Conference 2015

We are delighted to announce that Stardust has been awarded the Sir Arthur Clarke award for Space Achievement in Academic Research/Study.

The award was presented by the UK’s first astronaut Helen Sharman at St. George’s Hall in Liverpool during the UK Space Conference 2015 gala dinner. The spectacular building made for a special ambience as the great and the good of the space industry congregated to fête their peers.

Stardust’s own Marie Curie Fellows Chiara and Clemens collected the award on the night and enjoyed a fabulous champagne reception followed by dinner.

Curiously enough, the runner up for the award was none other that Stardust’s Co-ordinator Prof Max Vasile from the University of Strathclyde who had been nominated for his non-Stardust achievements.

The award represents a landmark as the Stardust project begins to gain recognition within the space community for its innovative approach and the progress being made by all involved.

At the Space Conference itself Stardust was also a finalist in the Soap Box competition, in which Chiara gave a five minute presentation on the Network and the ways in which the partners work together.

Stardust was also represented in the Outreach area of the Conference where Network Manager Peter introduced hundreds of school students and budding scientists to the work Stardust is doing on Asteroids and Space Debris.
