    Stardust in the Public Eye

In keeping with the spirit of Public Engagement and Outreach there are a number of events and projects this year.

Stardust will be announced as one of the featured events at this year’s Glasgow Science Festival. In partnership with the Glasgow Science Centre and Cineworld IMAX they will be putting on a special screening of the film Gravity

There will be an introduction to Space Debris before the film and a discussion of both the exaggerations within the film and also the very real problems it portrays.

Stardust is also running a project with Strathclyde’s MUSE programme and Scottish Schools Education Research Centre to have elements of asteroid research introduced as part of the curriculum in schools. This will be a pilot project in partnership with Research Council UK, National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement and Science Learning Network. Initially working with ten schools, they will be looking to extend this pilot to other schools and to include research on space debris.

For any further information on these and other events please contact Peter McGinty.
