Davide Amato is a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Aerospace Engineering of the Technical University of Madrid, conducting research in the field of astrodynamics. Under the Stardust network, he is investigating advanced orbital dynamics formulations to be applied to the problem of high accuracy orbit propagation and determination of asteroids and space debris. He graduated with honours from his Master course in Aerospace Engineering in the University of Naples “Federico II” in 2013. As a final project, he developed an orbit propagator for low-thrust interplanetary missions during a six-month Erasmus Placement internship at OHB System AG in Bremen, Germany. During his Master course, he also spent a five-month study period in the Technical University of Catalonia of Barcelona due to an Erasmus scholarship. He graduated with full marks from his Bachelor course in Aerospace Engineering in the University of Naples “Federico II” in 2010. He speaks Italian natively and English, Spanish fluently.

Project description:

Davide is performing studies in celestial mechanics. He is investigating promising orbit propagation methods based on advanced orbital dynamics formulations and their effectiveness in the area of asteroid and debris propagation, as well as in orbit determination.

Supervisor: Dr. Claudio Bombardelli
